Throughout the year Canadian Humanitarian leads volunteers from all walks of life on life-changing expeditions to Ethiopia and Haiti. Participants assist at Canadian Humanitarian supported projects for orphaned, vulnerable and at-risk children. We need your help to support these projects. In 2008 we need to raise over $500,000 to continue funding these projects and add micro-credit training for the children's guardians at Kid's Hope, PATH and LiGA. Inflation and Food Shortages Hit EthiopiaOver the past year inflation has hit Ethiopia hard – food prices have more than doubled and combined with a food shortage due to late rains those who had a hard time getting by before are now in desperate need of assistance. Our project partners are overwhelmed by the shortage of food and the steep price increase in the food that is available. Now, more than ever, we need your help to ensure that the children in our projects continue to receive one meal a day and that their families continue to receive basic monthly food provisions. We are counting on donors like you to help us help the hundreds of children and their families we support at projects like LiGA School, Kid’s Hope Ethiopia, Support Street Children and Mothers and PATH Ethiopia Literacy, Educational and Vocational Training Center. Bringing the Millenium Development Goals to Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan
Starting in the spring of 2008 Canadian Humanitarian will be conducting a public engagement project in southern Alberta and Sasktachewan with funding provided by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
The project's purpose is to educate people in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan about the MDG's and increase their understanding and awareness of issues in developing countries. The main activities will be an art contest promoting the MDG's, a travelling exhibit and a speaking tour.

Student's Uniting NationsJudi Lockie, from Vanscoy, SK, will once again be running the Student's Uniting Nations program this year with various schools in Saskatchewan and Ontario. This program unites students in Canada with children in the Kid's Hope Ethiopia project. Students correspond with one another through letters, photos, drawings and crafts delivered by Canadian Humanitarian. In January 2008 the five schools from Saskatchewan and Ontario collected hundreds of dollars in cash and 7 boxes full of school and medical supplies to send to their new friends at the Kid's Hope centers. THANK YOU!!! These items will be delivered to Ethiopia in March 2008. The Student's Uniting Nations program teaches students in Canada global awareness. Children learn about Ethiopian culture and traditions and how life is for a child in a developing country.
